Important Characters

As I run/crawl/limp/leap/dance/walk/skip through my life, I realize more and more who are the most important people at any given time. While the outliers seem to shift and splinter and grow and shrink and change, I have never felt more certain about the core. Here are a few of the people who matter … but keep in mind it’s not nearly everyone I hold close to my heart. Hell, I haven’t even met everyone I’m sure I’ll hold close to my heart!

Alex is my stepsister. Emotionally, we’ve been related for a long time. It’s been legal since January 8, 2011.

B is just B. Beyond words.

Baby D and Baby J aren’t really babies anymore. They are 7 and 8 1/2 and turning into little men before my eyes.

Bex was my partner in crime during my semester in France. She is a magnet for awkward moments.

Frere is my oldest younger brother and the reason for my tattoo.

Katie was my best friend in high school and then she was my roommate for four years after college. Now she lives in Seattle and my heart hurts without her here everyday.

Mama Bird owns a house and a puppy and we could not be more different and yet when she does shit like this I remember why she’ll always be one of my best friends.

Twin is my old coworker and best friend in NYC. We tend to operate on a level of inseparability some may deem unhealthy, except we don’t live together so it’s fine.
